How to Choose Sleepwear?

How relaxing it would be to sleep in the privacy of ones home and wearing what else but comfortable sleepwear. Every person has at least one favorite sleepwear that he uses almost everyday because it provides him the freedom to rest as well as to move around just before sleeping.

Sleepwear can refer to pajamas, nightdress, shorts and sleeveless shirts, tees or even boxer shorts for some men. Each person has grown fond with his sleepwear that he usually carries this fondness for that type of sleepwear even when he is already grown up.

It is easy to just choose any drab clothing as sleepwear when a person is still single. Take an old and torn t-shirt and it gets a person sleeping for the night. However, a person who has a sleeping partner should be more careful with his choice of sleepwear.

That sleeping buddy can be anyone from a friend during a sleepover, a classmate during a camping trip, a superior during an out of town meeting or even a new husband. A person should choose his sleepwear well depending on his sleeping partner and their intimacy.

Friends who sleep over in their houses usually favor pajamas as sleepwear because it can still be used comfortably for some of their other activities like watching television or midnight snacks. An employee who goes on an out of town trip and who is bound to share sleeping quarters either with his co-employees or his superior will also be more comfortable wearing a pair of pajamas.

These pieces of clothing are called sleepwear because they are primarily used for sleeping. Thus, sleepwear must conform to the conditions that will provide a person a good nights rest. Sleepwear should be comfortable, keep the wearer in a cool and relaxed mood and served its purposes of providing warmth to the person.

Sleepwear comes in different texture, color and style. There are sleeping wears made of cotton while there are those made of silk or satin. The cloth with which the sleepwear is made really depends on the taste or preferences of the wearer as well as the weather condition.

A person who lives in a country known to have winter all year round would be more comfortable wearing sleepwear that can keep him warm. However, a person who lives in the tropics will be better off in sleepwear that can keep him cool like cotton.

Women however have managed to transform sleepwear from a mere sleeping wear to a fashion statement. Sleepwear nowadays is no longer just clothing for sleeping but also something that reflects the mod of a woman or her fashion preferences.

It looks funny but there are women living in tropical countries without air conditioning in their rooms wearing silky sleepwear just for fashion purposes. They may be wearing glamorous sleepwear but who knows how they can sleep amid the heat and that heap of clothing?

Modern women prefer to wear sleepwear that keeps them fashionable and sexy. Thus sleepwear that is cut fashionably and looks sexy on anyone is the common choice among the new generation.

But whatever type of sleepwear a person chooses he should make sure it fits in to the purpose of wearing that clothing item which is really to provide him a comfortable and a relaxing sleep.

Buying a New Car? Use Feng Shui to Select Your Success Color

With Septembers arrival comes the annual car buying season. But while selecting the type of car comes easily to most people, making a decision on the color of a car can be a stumbling block. Some people simply go with their favorite color, while others mull over color choices by considering factors such as climate, type of vehicle use, or the most practical choice, going with what is least likely to show dirt. But what if even that fails? Then try feng shui. Yes, feng shui, the Chinese guide used for arranging homes and offices, can also be used for selecting colors based on an individuals own personal feng shui.

According to personal feng shui, each person has an individual feng shui number that is based on gender and date of birth. This number, also called a kua number is associated with a color. By selecting the correct color for an individuals particular feng shui number, the driver will experience better luck over all because the color is harmonized with that individual.

Use personal feng shui to select a success color, which can be helpful when buying that luxury sedan. More into soccer practice than boardrooms? Choose a family color. Both colors are determined by the drivers kua number. To determine the drivers kua number, and subsequently the color of car that is appropriate, use the instructions below and then check the chart that follow for selecting a success or family color. Now, who should drive the Mary Kay pink Cadillacs? Anyone with a number 3 kua number!

The calculation is as follows:

-Take the year of birth, i.e., 1971

-Add the last two years together (7+1=8)

For men, subtract the number from 10 (10-8+2); 2 is the kua number

For women, add 5 to the number (5+8=13; 1+3= 4); 4 is the kua number

For years such as 1982 which have a double digit, be sure to reduce to one number

8+2=10 (1+0=1)

10-1=9 (Kua for men)

5+1=6 (Kua for women)

How To Pick Up the Gloves In Marriage and Fight Well - "Body Basics!"

Call it a fight, call it a discussion, call it whatever you want. But lets be honest. The truth is that in every marriage there is fighting. No matter what you think, there is no such thing as the Cleavers or the Cosbys. That being said, if it happens in every marriage, why is it that there are some couples who seem to enter and exit the ring gracefully while others seem like there is never a break between rounds? The reason is that some people have learned the secrets behind fighting well and others are just swinging away hoping to connect.

Whether you have been married 20 years or 20 minutes, learning to fight well can be the difference between being one of the most rewarding experiences of marriage and the most challenging.

What fight do you want to fight?

Lets clarify what was said previously. Everyone fights, but you may not actually know it. Even if you are in the relationship. There are basically 2 types of fighters; the Screamers and the Sweepers.

What does a screamer sound like?

This is the couple that nobody doubts is having problems. They are the ones that fight over the smallest things, and these small things turn into World War III. The fights turn brutal fast and leave deep wounds that are still raw as the next fight starts. They fight about the same thing over and over and never seem to solve a thing.

How deep is the carpet you sweep under?

These couples do have conflicts, but they keep it quiet. From the neighbors, from the family, and even from themselves. When a conflict arises, these people will quickly and effectively avoid the conflict and will work around it. When they come into therapy, generally these people will talk about conflicts that were never resolved 10 years ago that their partner didnt even know was a problem.

Why do so many couples fight?

Here is the problem. There really are 3 things working against you in this relationship.

What family tree did you fall from? First is that neither one of you grew up in the same family. Maybe your family was the kind of family that was loud and outgoing, always doing things together, and constantly moving, whereas your partner came from a family where spending time together meant that they were in the same room together listening to the same clock ticking in the corner. It may not have been quite that extreme, but you get the point.

Are you a fruit? Secondly, no two people in the world have had exactly the same experiences and thoughts as another person. Our experiences tend to form who we are and how we see life. Therefore, no two people in or out of a relationship will ever see their relationship exactly the same. It is like trying to compare apples to oranges.

What planet are you on?

Finally, there is one overlying theme that hangs over all of us in traditional relationships. One of us is male and the other is female. Period. Although we are not from different planets as you may have heard, society expects different things from us and we therefore have different goals and expectations about relationships and our roles in them.

Knowing that there are such strong, lifelong habits and traits that we are dealing with, it should be

Why do we lose control?

When we fight, something interesting happens in our bodies. For most people, fighting isnt just an exchange of words. It is an emotional event that happens and is felt throughout our bodies.

Emotion types

There are two types of emotions. Primary and secondary. Secondary emotions are emotions that come after the main emotion occurs. In essence, it is a reaction to the reaction.

When people come into a session, most often we hear She pissed me off, or He made me so mad. That is not the real emotion. That is the reaction to the emotion. The primary emotion is hurt, disappointment, or rejection. It is important that this distinction be made.

Chemical Confusion

Part of the problem when we fight is that too often we are dealing with the secondary emotions. We have felt something strongly like rejection or betrayal, and then our bodies automatically go into defensive mode. Our brains release chemicals that put us on alert and do not allow proper functioning of brain processing.

What we need to realize is that people who work off of secondary emotions do not actually see reality because their brains cannot function properly with the chemicals that are being produced. Our natural response is to retaliate without thought. How can you fight effectively when your brain is not functioning? You cant! That is why you need to be able to see clearly enough to fight.

This is just not natural!

Why is it that fighting well is so difficult? Even the most practiced couple makes mistakes at times and seems to go backwards. What needs to be understood is that it is not natural to have the kind of conversations that will make marriages work. Our natural reaction is to fight or run.

So what we are doing is trying go against what our animal instincts are telling us to do. What needs to happen is that we need to transcend that instinct and move to a higher level and do things that feel difficult and unnatural. Its hard, but it can be done using proven tools.

Effective Public Relations: Why Did Bec And Lleyton Do It At 3:15AM?

If you are in Australia at the moment, it is hard to miss the engagement news of superstar couple, tennis ace Lleyton Hewitt and TV soap Rebecca Cartwright.

They are everywhere ... in leading glossy gossip magazines, on TV and Cartwright has even posed semi-naked for a men's magazine.

They are being hailed as Australia's answer to pop star "Posh Spice" Adams and English soccer hero David Beckham who have taken the world by storm as truly global personal brands.

Experts believe Hewitt's value has quadrupled as the media's interest in their private lives becomes a national obsession.

But why did they wait until 3:12 am in the morning to announce their engagement, hours after more than 4 million Australians had watched Hewitt lose the Australian Open Tennis Final?

Well, managing your message in the media is all about impact, reach and timing.

So what does this mean for the timing of your own media release?

Well, here are seven lessons from the Hewitt/Cartwright release that was emailed to the media at 3.12am only hours after the Australian Open finished.

1. Maximise Momentum Brand building, strategic communications and the management of messages is all about consistently being in front of your target audience. To make a significant impact you need to keep the momentum going and maximise the moment and the public's interest in an issue. With such a build up to Hewitt's appearance in the Australian Open finals, the media attention was intense as he pursued his dream of becoming the first Australian to win the men's title since 1976.

"I always said I'd do anything to play in the first night final in Australian Open men's history and I've got my chance," Hewitt said after making the final in typical gritty style. Cartwright was courtside with him for the whole tournament and the focus of considerable media attention herself.

How can you write and pitch a media release that uses the momentum of a current issue?

2. Leverage Off An Event Event marketing is a huge growth area for effective public relations. There is no bigger event in Australia during January than the Australian Open. Effective media relations is about strategically managing the release of information to coincide with events like this.

Events, including seasonal ones such as Valentines Day, come up every year and the media is always hungry for stories with a fresh angle. Who can forget the media-hype surrounding the break-up of Ken and Barbie?

"The 43-year relationship ended last February, just two days before Valentine's Day. Do you think those folks from Mattel picked that date by accident? The story made international news and it didn't hurt that it was timed for the love affair the media will always have with Valentine's Day," reports Jeff Crilley a US-based TV presenter and author of Free Publicity.

What media release can you pitch to time with a major event?

3. The Impact of Immediacy This is a major driver of news values. What is news one day will be dead the next. The more immediate and timely the story, the greater the impact and the higher the news value.

Those that micromanaged the Hewitt/Cartwright release worked hard to meet a deadline. Here's how it worked according to a report in The Australian newspaper by Amanda Meade on Thursday February 3rd:

i) Around 12 midnight the night after the Australian Open Men's Tennis Final Hewitt proposes to Cartwright with a $200,000 diamond ring from Tiffany's.

ii) The media statement was drafted by Cartwright's publicist in Sydney after 1am and faxed to Melbourne's Park Hyatt Hotel, where it was approved by Cartwright, Hewitt, and their managers Stephen Harmon and Justin Cohen.

iii) The release was issued by email around 3am to all media confirming the engagement.

The important point was a process was followed to meet a deadline.

So what is the best time to issue a media release? Well, it all depends on the timeliness and news value of the story.

AAP conducted a survey of all News Rooms in Australia last year and found the best time to send a media release is between 6 and 9 am and 3 and 6 pm.

When sending your media release be aware of time differences.

4. Be Proactive I can't emphasise enough the importance of being pro-active, even if it means working at 1am in the morning. Providing timely, accurate and relevant information through a well-written news release keeps everyone informed and stops rumours. This rule applies to everything from engagements to corporate takeovers and new product announcements.

5. Be Fair With a big story be fair and even-handed with all the media so everyone gets the information at the same time. Treat the media as you would like to be treated, with courtesy and respect.

6. Be Consistent Allow consistent access by the media if it is a big story. Obviously, with such a huge interest with Lleyton and Bec they decided to manage access and maximise their celebrity status by restricting access and tying up exclusives with Channel 7 and a leading Women's magazine. Use an agent to handle this if you are ever in this situation.

7. Target Your Media In some cases it is best to target your media. AAP in its survey asked if it is best to send the release to a journalist or to the newsdesk - 86 per cent said to the newsdesk. This depends though on your relationship with the media. I do recommend sending releases directly to a reporter, especially if it is pre-arranged and contact has already been made through a relationship.
