Maintenance Tips To Vacation Rental Homeowners

Taking care of a second home property can be alot of work if left unattended for long periods of time. But, if you take the time every six months to go over your check list, you may be able to stay ahead of the game.

Here are ten things to remember:

1. Check the Gutters on your house. Make sure they are free of any dirt or leaves. If you have a condo, your association will take care of them.
2. Check all the plumbing, including all of the faucets. Make sure you do not have any leaks. Replace the washers and/or hoses if needed.
3. Check the hoses on your washer and dryer. Replace them with metal hoses if needed.
4. Clean the back of the refrigerator. Make sure it is free of any dirt or dust. This will help keep it running safer and more efficiently.
5. Check the batteries on your smoke detectors. Replace them if needed.
6. Check your water heater and change the air filter.
7. Check any carpets and have them cleaned if needed.
8. Check the paint on the walls. You may want to touch up any imperfections if needed.
9. Check all of your appliances to see if they are working properly. Make repairs if needed.
10. Turn your mattress over to keep it fresh and new. Don't forget to vacuum under the bed.

If you remember to check your home and take care of the little problems every six months on a regular basis, you will find it less painful to fix something that may need some attention.
